Transition to Solitude

I haven't slept much lately. Her face is still there when I close my eyes...

Transition to Solitude

I sit here in my empty room and miss her oh so much,
And wonder just how much I'd love to feel her healing touch.
The window gathers darkness, pitch-black like my soul,
And channels night into my heart, to fill its empty hole.
I look out to the garden where the roses wither dead,
As the colors lose their meaning like the words that I had said.
And my memories are fading, stolen by despair,
Breathing is a challenge when there's sadness in the air.

I'm standing on a dying star, and soon it will implode.
A reflection of my worn out heart, when it can not bear the load.
Someone help me, hold me up, for I'm about to fall,
She turned away and left me here, and with her I lost it all.
Oh Lord no longer can I breathe for my heart just will not beat,
My soul is near to caving in, foretelling my defeat.
These bitter tears I can't hold back, they're sisters to my pain,
Now give me salt for all my wounds, and throw me out in rain.

I'll carve a hole in the darkness, where my misery can foam.
I'll carve a hole in the night and make it into my home.
Though melancholy is this place, rage is not too far,
And the only light that shines in here, is a single, distant star.
Pieces of my shattered heart are gathered in a heap,
And mounted on a gravestone, I hang my head and weep.
Tears will only nurture me, as I cope with cruel fate,
Tears will only nurture me, as I milk the breasts of hate.
