Embodiment

Embodiment

Is it possible to believe in a broken vow,

When you only break yourself?

I fear the fading embers,

That suggest an imminent conclusion.

-

There is no dream to compare with reality,

Wherein I walk, clothed akin to humanity.

Iím so afraid the end is near,

The end, not of me, but of all that I hold dear.

-

Iambic pentameter?

Least of all the things that matter.

Iím a soul alone, donít know how I bear,

The cross that Jesus bore and is still condemned to wear.

-

Just one stray letter,

And the entire meaning is changed.

No cause for concern,

For lessons have I learned.

-

I abhor this inconclusiveness,

A lack of resolution never finds me at my best.

Iím afraid of the change I wrought,

When misplaced love is the thrill I sought.

-

Who dares wins,

And the sin falls to me again.

Wandering, like an arrow without aim,

Through corporeal fiends who only seek to gain.

-

By my loss I am renewed,

Reft of life I am subdued.

That life is yours and I donít know how Iíll cope,

When your very breath dignifies my only hope.

-

Iíll cry again this time next May,

Thinking of the life you so selflessly gave away.

Iím the embodiment of your dream,

In a life where nothingís what it seems.
