The darkness closes all around
Then mind and heart unite as one;
All inside thee starts to resound.
The body's slack, and now becomes
The host of things to come.
The fears inside your heart ascend
And leave you shaking in shudder's might.
This melds with joy and sorrow's blend;
One lone emotion, full mix of plight.
Now vexing visions see.
A refuge seek and be denied?
Or joys abound in pleasured things?
A life of sorrows can be led,
Or every joy in th'world might be,
When darkness closes over thee.
